Notes for Primitive Dolls

Cream knickers may be aged for bush or prairie (pioneer) dolls by patting (place a cotton ball in a circle of plain calico, tie into a stamp pad and dab dye on), or misting with a dye of tea, coffee, vanilla essence or cinnamon. Other suitable colours for yarn are earth red, mud, clay, old navy, bark, olive, linen. They may be knitted in fine cotton twine. Replace silk ribbon with a narrow, frayed cotton tape or gnarled wool. For pocket handkerchief snip a square from organic cotton lace or buckwheat coloured linen, or knit a tiny length of lace using crochet cotton.
